Die Technologie hinter der schauspielerischen Leistung in LA Noire. LA Noire, der neueste Titel von Rockstar Games, ist ein düsterer und erbarmungsloser Detective Thriller, der wenige Jahre nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg im Los Angeles der späten 40er Jahre, spielt. Spieler schlüpfen in die Rolle von Cole Phelps, einem frischgebackenen Detective (gespielt von Aaron Station aus Mad Men), und müssen grauenvolle und verstörende Verbrechen aufklären, Verdächtige verhören und in den Rängen des LAPD Karriere machen — in einer Stadt, in der jeder etwas zu verbergen hat. LA Noire ist das erste Spiel überhaupt, in dem eine brandneue Technologie namens MotionScan eingesetzt wird. MotionScan geht über traditionelle Verfahren für Motion Capturing hinaus, um die schauspielerische Leistung von Darstellern in Videospiele einzubinden und erreicht dabei einen bisher noch nie dagewesenen Realitäts- und Detailgrad. Mithilfe einer Apparatur aus 32 hochauflösenden Kameras, die die Mimik von Schauspielern in einer speziellen Auflösung scant und digitalisiert, kann MotionScan jede noch so kleine Nuance von Emotionen einfangen und erlaubt es Spielern so, sich wie ein echter Detective zu fühlen, wenn man auf der Suche nach der Wahrheit die Regungen und Reaktionen jedes Charakters deuten muss.
