Spin to Win – Award Winning Wall Street Spin Board Game is Featured in “The Marketing to Kids Report”

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 4, 2004

Taking a spin on something new is what Donald and Betty Lee Deitch do best. A few years ago, this former mortgage banker and his Realtor wife were making an excellent living playing the stock market, enjoying boom times. Then that boom went bust.

“We lost a fortune,” recalled Betty Lee Deitch, President of FunSpin Board Games. “We decided to do something more constructive. We love board games, so we invented a board game to lift people’s spirits.”

The board game, Wall Street Spin, allows participants to play the stock market with no real risk and little knowledge about the stock market….The final version of the humorous company names were created by Oscar-winning animation director Gene Deitch.

One of the chief strengths of the game’s design is that it doesn’t require any complicated math. Perhaps its teaching value is what prompted Wall Street Spin to win Dr. Toy’s award for educational skills.

“They learn some financial basics,” noted Ms. Deitch. “We’re finding that there are younger and younger investors. A game like this enhances also their verbal and social skills, such as how to win and lose gracefully.”

But the random element of the game is what makes it most appealing to kids, who aren’t at a disadvantage for limited knowledge of the market. “That creates a level playing field” she added.

“There’s no way to monopolize the board. It’s a game of skill and luck, just like the stock market. And we find kids are usually good at it because they’re more daring and willing to take risks.”

The couple plan to market five games total in their Patented Brand of FunSpin Board Games. The Patented spin mechanism offers challenging multiple outcomes as well as varying prices. Players see, hear, and feel the exciting Spin to Win!

Beacon Street Girls Dress up and Get Taste of ‘Project Runway’ with New ‘Fashion Frenzy’ Online Game: Free Game Lets Girls Become Fashion Designers and Stylists in a Fun and Supportive Environment

Beacon Street Girls Dress up and Get Taste of ‘Project Runway’ with New ‘Fashion Frenzy’ Online Game: Free Game Lets Girls Become Fashion Designers and Stylists in a Fun and Supportive Environment

Lexington, MA (PRWEB) November 23, 2006

A new online fashion game based on “Fashion Frenzy,” the ninth book in the award-winning Beacon Street Girls (BSG) book series, helps girls further explore the exciting world of fashion design and styling. Unlike most fashion-oriented online games, the “Fashion Frenzy” game (http://www.beaconstreetgirls.com/games ) allows budding designers to do more than dress up a figure. With “Fashion Frenzy,” players actually help create the apparel options by picking out different fabrics, colors and prints. They also get the opportunity to act as a fashion stylist, accessorizing the outfits. There are thousands of combinations possible.

Most online fashion games simply allow girls to choose apparel from a very limited closet. Unlike these “dress up” games, “Fashion Frenzy” players select among dozens of style options for tops, pants, skirts, jackets and dresses. Then they choose the fabrics, colors and prints, to finish each piece of clothing. Once an outfit has been created, the player dresses Katani Summers, the BSG fashionista, and chooses a photo background. Taking a turn as a fashion stylist, the player then rounds out the look with accessories like scarves, headbands, jewelry, hats and headpieces, footwear and handbags, including bags and purses from the Beacon Street Girls collection (available online at http://www.bsgshop.com ) When the ensemble has been completed, players receive feedback and commentary from Katani, and can email the whole look to a friend.

In addition, true to the upbeat and optimistic messages communicated through the Beacon Street Girls literature, the “Fashion Frenzy” game offers positive role models for girls. “While shows like ‘Project Runway’ and ‘America’s Top Model’ have been enormously popular with the preteen girls because they offer a behind-the-scenes look at the world of fashion, they sometimes perpetuate the negative tone enlightened adults have come to associate with the world of fashion,” said Addie Swartz, founder and CEO of B*tween Productions, home of the Beacon Street Girls. “‘Fashion Frenzy’ provides girls with a chance to play with fashion in a fun, supportive environment.”

Swartz continued, “In addition, the game offers the opportunity for true fashion experimentation. In the fashion industry innovation often springs from un-expected pairings and combinations. The juxtaposition of different colors and patterns can be quite exciting. The huge number of style combinations ‘Fashion Frenzy’ offers makes this possible.”

The BSG’s website (http://www.beaconstreetgirls.com ) features the preteen stars of the award-winning book series for girls, providing positive role models and messages for girls as well as a safe, COPPA-compliant online destination. The website also features Club BSG, the free club for Beacon Street Girls fans. The club is open to all girls under the age of 17 who wish to interact with the BSG characters and world. Club members:

Receive a free welcome gift and regular e-newsletters

Participate in activities, surveys, sweepstakes and contests

Get the insider scoop on the latest BSG news

Play with the latest BSG games, and

    Receive special, exclusive offers.

Over the next few weeks, the other Beacon Street Girls characters will be added to the game, as well as more outfits and additional functionality. Members of Club BSG will also receive exclusive access to extra “Fashion Frenzy” outfits and special bonus game functionality as they become available.

The “Fashion Frenzy” book took the Beacon Street Girls to New York City to be part of a “real live fashion show. The “Fashion Frenzy” game extends this experience and is now available on the Beacon Street Girls website at http://www.beaconstreetgirls.com/games
